No need to rush Archer back to Tests – Vaughan

Former England captain Michael Vaughan believes there is no need to rush pace bowler Jofra Archer back into the Test side.

Archer has been sidelined with an ongoing elbow injury and Vaughan believes giving him the time to fully recover is vital for his long-term career.

“Jofra is a key player for England, but we must ensure he is fully fit before rushing him back into the Test team,” Vaughan said in a recent interview.

The pace bowler has already proven his worth in the shortest format of the game, but Vaughan feels it is important to manage his workload carefully to prevent further injury.

“We have seen too many fast bowlers break down due to overuse and we must learn from those mistakes,” Vaughan added.

Archer’s express pace and ability to generate bounce make him a valuable asset to the England side, but Vaughan believes the team can afford to give him the time he needs to recover fully.

“We have enough depth in our bowling attack to cope without Archer for now, so there is no need to rush him back prematurely,” Vaughan said.

England will be looking to manage Archer’s workload carefully in the lead up to important Test series, with Vaughan advocating for a cautious approach.

“We want Jofra to be at his best when he returns to the Test side, so it is important to prioritize his long-term fitness over short-term gains,” Vaughan emphasized.

With Archer being a key figure in England’s plans for the future, Vaughan’s advice is likely to be heeded as the team looks to build towards upcoming series.
